At 12.25pm yesterday afternoon, coastguard officers and paramedics were called to Lyme Regis after a 70-year-old woman fell down some steps on the sea wall.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team said: "On Thursday afternoon, officers from West Bay were alerted by Solent Coastguard to back up our flank team from Lyme Regis.

"A 70 year old female had suffered a fall down some steps to the East of Lyme Regis on the sea wall.

"Lyme Regis Coastguard and the ambulance service were already responding to the incident, but officers from West Bay were tasked should any additional support be required for an extended stretcher carry.

"On arrival in Lyme Regis, the casualty was found to be in the expert care of the Paramedics and Lyme officers and no further assistance was required.

"The West Bay team were then stood down to return to station. We wish the lady a full and speedy recovery.
