A celebratory concert will be held at St Mary's Church in Weymouth tomorrow, Sunday, June 13.
Due to Covid restrictions there will be two performances of the concert, which will be held to celebrate the 75th season of Weymouth Music Club.
The first performance will be at 2.15pm and the second at 4pm.
The highlight will be the premiere of a piano solo specially commissioned from Cecilia McDowell, entitled Notes from Abroad, performed by Weymouth pianist Duncan Honeybourne.
Duncan is well known to audiences at the Weymouth Lunchtime Chamber Concerts, and has premiered over 70 new piano works, including broadcasts of several contemporary pieces. Cecilia’s distinctive style speaks directly to listeners, instrumentalists and singers.
Other concert items will include a piano solo entitled Three Album Leaves, composed by Edward Lawrance, who was born in Weymouth.
Duncan and Antonia Kesel, violin, will play Beethoven’s Sonata in F major for violin and piano op 24 and Dvorak Sonatina op 100.
Reservations for limited places can be made through Mike Beecroft by emailing mikebeecroft2003@yahoo.co.uk
Weymouth Sunday Concerts plan a full season of six concerts, starting in October at their usual venue, Weymouth Bay Church.
