A SECTION of the A35 was partially blocked due to a two vehicle crash, where one person is being cut free.

The A35 westbound was partially blocked between the A354, Puddletown, and the B3150, Stinsford, due to a crash involving a lorry and a van.

One person was cut free from their vehicle using specialist equipment.

Police, paramedics, the air ambulance and the fire service were all in attendance.

The A35 is expected to remain closed for a while, and drivers are being warned of long delays.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire crews from Dorchester, Wareham and Weymouth are in attendance at a road traffic collision on the A35 Puddletown Bypass. One casualty is being extricated by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment."

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 8.52am of a two vehicle collision on the westbound carriageway of the A35 Puddletown bypass, near to the Troy Town junction.

"Officers have attended along with the ambulance service and road closures have been put in place as emergency services respond to the incident."

Dorset Police has confirmed the road has now been fully reopened.
