TESCO has issued an urgent product recall after plastic was found in baby food.

The supermarket is urging shoppers to return its cottage pie baby food because it may contain pieces of blue plastic.

In a recall notice the supermarket said: "We have been made aware that certain date codes of Tesco Cottage Pie Baby Food 190g may contain small pieces of blue plastic.

"Please do not use this product instead return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given.

"No receipt is required.

"Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused.

"If you require further details, please contact Customer Services directly on 0800 505 555."

The affected products have a best before date of June 12.

It follows another product sold at Tesco being recalled.

A notice recalling a content lens solution said: “Bausch + Lomb have identified a potential fault affecting all batch codes of EasySept Hydro + 360ml products. Residual peroxide could potentially remain in the lens case after neutralisation. If the residual hydrogen peroxide is above product specification, the user could experience burning/stinging, irritation, red eye and in rare circumstances other more serious health consequences."
