DETECTIVES investigating an alleged stabbing in Weymouth have made two further arrests.

A man in his 40s was hospitalised after he sustained stab wounds in Westhill Road, near to the junction with Pirates Lane.

According to police, the victim's stab wounds required surgery and was taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening and officers have confirmed he has since left the hospital.

Police have said a further two men in their mid to late 20s from Weymouth have been arrested in connection with the alleged assault.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 2.30am on Monday May 31 from the ambulance service of a stabbing on Westhill Road near to the junction with Pirates Lane.

"It was reported that the victim – a man aged in his 40s – was assaulted by a group of men.

"He sustained stab wounds that required surgery and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since left hospital.

"A 28-year-old local man was previously arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and was released on police bail.

"Following further enquiries by detectives from Weymouth CID, two further men – aged 25 and 28 and both from Weymouth – have also been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and have been released on police bail as the investigation continues."
