MORE than 100 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset as the overall total of cases reaches the 38,000 mark.

The latest Government figures show 112 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Wednesday, June 16.

In the Dorset Council area, 25 new cases were reported. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 12,149 cases confirmed across this area.

The rolling seven-day period, up to Friday, June 11, shows that the Dorset Council area has reported 102 Covid-19 cases and has a case rate of 26.9 per 100,000 people.

87 new cases were recorded across the BCP Council area, which takes the total number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic to 25,937.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP is 202 cases, with a case rate of 51.1 per 100,000 people.

During the course of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 38,086 cases of Covid-19 confirmed across Dorset.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area recorded five new coronavirus cases. The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic stands within the New Forest at 6,302.

The seven-day total for New Forest is 40, with a case rate of 22.2 per 100,000 people.
