WATER fountains have been installed in Weymouth and Dorchester to celebrate World Refill Day.
New water fountains have been installed in Hope Square, The Esplanade and Alexandra Gardens for Weymouth residents and visitors to enjoy, with a fourth fountain in New Bond Street to be installed soon. South Street in Dorchester also has a new tap up and running.
The new installations have coincided with World Refill Day, a global public awareness campaign to prevent plastic pollution and help people live with less waste, which was celebrated yesterday.
Wessex Water is working with councils and businesses across the Wessex region to install refill points in public spaces.
Kirsty Scarlett, head of community engagement at Wessex Water, said: "Our refill points have been installed in great locations for keeping people hydrated. If you see one in your area or on your travels, try topping up with tap water for free instead of buying bottled water.
"We're pleased to be able to work with so many local communities who share the same aim of promoting refill over landfill."
