A ROAD in a Dorset village will shut for resurfacing.

A 1,220-metre stretch of Dewlish Road in Milborne Saint Andrew, from its junction for Dennets House to outside Springfield, will be closed in both directions between 9am and 3.30pm on Thursday, June 24.

A public notice from Dorset Council states the maintenance is to carry out resurfacing and a road closure is necessary for the works to be safely carried out.

It reads: “This notice will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works."

During the road closure, a 4.7-mile diversion route will be signposted and will take motorists into Milborne Saint Andrew and onto the A354.

To bypass the closed road, motorists must head east towards Lynch Close before turning right onto the A354.

While on A354, drivers need to turn right onto an unnamed rural route and follow the road again to make another right turn.

Drivers must then turn right onto Church Street and follow the road as it becomes Middle Street.

Dorset Council warns that any person who breaches the road closure could be convicted or face a fine not exceeding £1,000.
