I am writing as a ratepayer living in Dorchester.

I am so annoyed - whilst travelling around Dorchester and district - about the state of the hedgerows and green spaces, even on residential estates.

I live on Normandy Way; the green in front of my property is 3 foot high.

I cut my grass twice a week. Inform me if I’m wrong but the council I believe cut theirs FOUR times a year, using the excuse of butterflies and insects.

There is plenty of land that is overgrown for them.

We are also paying subsidies to farmers to leave land in a natural state for the animals and insects.

So please do not use this as a excuse for us having to live in such dire surroundings.

One man and a mower could cover so much ground in a week quite economically.
