A DRIVER has been arrested for driving at nearly double the speed limit, prompting a warning from police.
A 20-year-old driver was arrested last night after getting caught driving at 77mph in a 40mph zone on Ringwood Road in Bearcross, Bournemouth.
He has been reported to court for excess speed and could be looking at disqualification.
Police have issued a warning of the dangers of speeding on that road.
A spokesman for Dorset Police No Excuse Team said: "The vehicle was stopped for excess speed at 77mph in a 40mph on Ringwood Road, Bearcross.
"The 20-year-old who had been driving for three years was reported to court for excess speed. At nearly double the speed limit, the driver could be looking at a disqualification.
"Nearly 20 years ago two people were killed after their car smashed into a tree and burst into flames on this stretch of road."
