MORE than 150 coronavirus cases were recorded in Dorset over the last 24 hours, latest figures show.

The Government’s daily update revealed 160 cases were recorded across the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Monday, July 5.

The Dorset Council area recorded 55 new cases over this period. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 12,944 cases have been confirmed in the area.

In the seven days leading up to June 29, the latest rolling seven-day period, 324 cases were confirmed in Dorset Council area, giving a rolling infection rate of 85.6 per 100,000 people.

The BCP Council area recorded 105 new cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 27,786.

In the seven days leading up to June 29, 830 cases were confirmed in BCP, giving a rolling infection rate of 210 per 100,000 people.

The newly released figures mean that there have now been 40,730 coronavirus cases across Dorset.

Elsewhere, 38 new cases were recorded in the New Forest, taking the total to 6,675

The rolling rate was 95.5 after 172 cases were confirmed in a week.
