POLICE in Dorset have been working with colleagues across the border in Wiltshire as criminals raided several farms, stealing valuable equipment.

Dorset Police Rural Crime Team has issued a joint statement the neighbouring county's force after overnight thefts were reported at farms in the areas of Horton, East Dorset and Broadchalke, Wiltshire on Tuesday.

Thieves made off with hi-tech agricultural equipment including GPS 'domes.'

A police spokesman said: "The incidents are being investigated by Dorset Police and Wiltshire Police but we would like to remind the public to remove the domes when they are not in use, lock them away out of sight, record the serial numbers and keep their location on a need to know basis. Do not make it easy for thieves to take these items."

The force is now calling on farmers to encourage staff to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour or vehicles to the police on 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.
