I have recently travelled to London by train from Weymouth for the first time in quite a while.
I had read the concerns of fellow travellers on the new reduced service with interest, and can say their fears are well founded.

I travelled off peak both ways. On the outward journey passengers were standing from Brockenhurst right through to Waterloo.
The return train was almost as packed with very few seats vacant. The new service takes about three hours, around twenty minutes longer than previously.
It was a five car unit in both directions. I can understand the service from Bournemouth to Weymouth being reduced to hourly, but the service needs to double the capacity from Bournemouth – Waterloo and vice versa.
Onwards & downwards.
