FACILITIES at Haven's three holiday parks in Weymouth have reopened fully after being forced to close due to 'unruly behaviour’ of some guests at one site – including alleged sexual assaults and theft.

All entertainment facilities at Haven's sites in Weymouth - Littlesea, Seaview and Weymouth Bay - closed for the entire weekend to protect the safety of visitors and staff.

The decision was made following ‘intimidating and abusive behaviour of some guests’ at its Littlesea Park on Friday, July 9.

Affected guests have been offered partial refunds on their holidays if they remained on site, or a full refund if they chose to leave.

Guests have spoken of their ‘really scary experience’ at Littlesea Park, with one father describing people ‘banging on the caravan’s walls and windows’.

Haven said a number of alleged serious offences were reported to Dorset Police and are currently being investigated.

The holiday company apologised for the 'unforeseen behaviour’ as it confirmed all facilities have now reopened to guests at their parks. A spokesman also thanked Dorset Police for their ‘full support’ during the weekend.

A spokeswoman for Haven said: "We are continuing to work with Dorset Police over the events of the weekend where team members at our Littlesea park and to a lesser extent at our other parks in Weymouth, were subject to intimidating and abusive behaviour on Friday, July 9 which meant we took the difficult decision to close our central facilities until today.

“Whilst we didn’t take this decision lightly, we have been assured, in a number of conversations with Dorset Police that we had their full support for the action we took in what was a busy and pressurised weekend for the whole of Weymouth and not just our holiday parks.

“We apologise to our guests who were unable to receive our normal Haven experience due to this unforeseen behaviour and will continue to work with affected guests in relation to refunds.

“We are now returned to our normal operations and welcoming guests arriving on holiday today.”

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: “Officers continued to engage with staff throughout the weekend following reports of intimidating and abusive behaviour at the Haven Littlesea holiday park off Lynch Lane in Weymouth.

“Enquiries are continuing into the report of theft and third hand report of a number of sexual assaults involving inappropriate touching over clothing. No arrests have been made.”
