AN ENTIRE year group plus the headteacher from a Dorset school are isolating after one confirmed Covid case.

The whole of Year 4 from Milborne St Andrew First School is isolating after one case of coronavirus was confirmed. The headteacher plus two other members of staff are also isolating, as well as a handful of younger students.

A spokesman for the school said: "We have had one confirmed Covid case and one parent is fairly sure their child has it, they are just waiting for the results of their Covid test.

"We have all of Year 4 isolating - 19 pupils - as well as four students in the Key Stage 1 group.

"The headteacher, the main Year 4 teacher and one teaching assistant are also isolating. They are due to return on Tuesday."

Sam Crowe, director of public health for Dorset and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole councils said: "We are aware that a number of schools in Dorset have received confirmed cases of Covid-19. These schools are working closely with Public Health Dorset, Dorset Council and Public Health England South West to ensure that all necessary measures are being met.

"All close contacts of the confirmed cases have been notified and need to self-isolate for 10 days. Contacts of the confirmed cases should get a PCR test. Even if people test negative, they must still self-isolate for 10 days."
