CORONAVIRUS continues to spread across Dorset ahead of the imminent lifting of Covid-19 restrictions in England
An interactive map, which uses Public Health England data, shows how many people have tested positive for the virus in each area of the county over the seven-day period up to Sunday, July 11.
Public Health England breaks down the numbers of coronavirus cases into neighbourhoods called 'Middle Super Output Areas' (MSOAs), which are smaller than council wards and based on population rather than geographical area.
The interactive map, which can be found through this link, allows users to type in their postcode and see how many cases were reported in their area and if it has increased or decreased from the week before. The darker the colour on the image, the more positive test results have been recorded.

The map highlights which areas of the county have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinates the areas by how many cases they have.
In the seven days up to Sunday, July 11, Dorset reported 1,652 cases. BCP Council area reported 1,063 cases while Dorset Council area reported 589 cases.
The following 10 areas have the highest number of active coronavirus cases:
- East Cliff - 44 cases (down by 5)
- Central Bournemouth - 42 cases (down by 22)
- Throop and Muscliffe - 42 cases (up by 24)
- Winton - 41 cases (down by 4)
- Springbourne & Queen's Park - 37 cases (up by 4)
- Bovington, Wool & Lulworth - 36 cases (up by 26)
- Parkstone - 36 cases (up by 24)
- East Howe & Ensbury Park - 35 cases (down by 2)
- Boscombe East - 32 cases (up by 4)
The following 10 areas have the lowest number of active coronavirus cases:
- Broadwey & Littlemoor - seven cases (up by 4)
- Sturminster Newton & Stalbridge - seven cases (down by 9)
- Canford Heath East - six cases (down by 10)
- Gillingham Outer, Bourton & Motcombe - six cases (no changes)
- Sturminster Marshall & Crichel - six cases (down by 2)
- Wyke Regis - six cases (no change)
- Ferndown West & Canford Bottom - five cases (down by 3)
- Gillingham - Suppressed (lower than 3 cases)
- Southwell & Weston - Suppressed
- Underhill & The Grove - Suppressed
