DORSET has among the whitest sand beaches in the country.
New research from Parkdean Resorts has discovered where in the UK has the whitest sand beaches in order to determine where holidaymakers' next staycation should be.
By analysing the sand shade of 50 of the UK’s top beaches, Parkdean Resorts has revealed the top 10 beaches with the whitest sand.
Parkdean advises that sand colour is determined by the different rocks and minerals that can be found around the coast, and this is why across the UK, beaches can have entirely different shades of sand.
According to the study, Studland Bay came out at fourth place while Bournemouth came out in fifth.

Studland Bay is home to one of the whitest beaches in the UK but also boasts stunning landscapes, and features iconic rock formations.
Bournemouth meanwhile boasts seven miles of soft white sand and is remembered by many for its delicious cafés, incredible museums and entertaining play areas.
The top 10 UK beaches with the whitest sand are:
1) Kynance Cove, Cornwall
2) Appletree Bay, Isles of Scilly
3) St Ives, Cornwall
4) Studland Bay, Dorset
5) Bournemouth, Dorset
6) Whitby Sands, Yorkshire
7 West Wittering, West Sussex
8) Brancaster, Norfolk
9) Fistral Beach, Cornwall
10) Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland
