A CORONAVIRUS vaccination clinic was closed due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ – leading to people unable to get their jabs.

The Day Lewis pharmacy vaccination clinic at the Prayerhouse in Chickerell was shut on Saturday (July 17).

Residents were left queuing outside as they wondered why the clinic had not opened.

NHS England apologised for the closure and say they are contacting anyone who had booked a vaccination to rearrange their appointment.

One local, who arrived to get her second jab, was unhappy how it was not explained why the clinic was shut or updated online.

She said: “People had to wait outside wondering what had happened.

“Two girls I spoke to had driven an hour and a half to Weymouth to get their second vaccination jab!

“I think that it was ridiculous that so many people went out of their way to get fully vaccinated only to be failed by a closed vaccination centre.”

A spokeswoman for NHS England and NHS Improvement South West said: “We apologise to anyone who planned to visit the Day Lewis pharmacy vaccination clinic at Prayerhouse, Chickerell, on Saturday.

“The pharmacy’s vaccination clinic had to close due to unforeseen circumstances.

“The pharmacy team is contacting anyone who had booked a vaccination appointment to rearrange.

“If someone was planning to attend the walk in clinic please visit our website for the latest information or book an appointment by visiting the national booking website or call NHS 119.”
