A DORSET hospital trust has recorded its first Covid patient deaths for more than two months.

Figures released by the NHS reported that two patients with the coronavirus had died on Saturday, July 17, while under the care of University Hospitals Dorset (UHD).

Prior to this, the most recent Covid hospital death in the county had been at UHD on May 3.

Throughout the pandemic, 823 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in hospitals across Dorset.

UHD, which manages Royal Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole hospitals, has had 739 Covid patient deaths, while Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester has had 111 deaths and Dorset HealthCare, the trust responsible for community hospitals and mental health care, has had 73 deaths.

Across England, there has now been 87,956 hospital Covid deaths recorded in NHS settings.
