MEMBERS of the community have been praised for their quick actions after two cars crashed on Portland last night.
Pictures show the extent of the damage to the two vehicles following the collision near a bend in the road at Wakeham, opposite Portland Museum.
The incident happened at around 8.40pm. Police say residents sprang into action, helping to prevent further accidents by stopping incoming traffic and administering first aid until emergency services arrived.

One man sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital by family members.
One local eyewitness said: "Road closed initially by magnificent local residents who responded immediately. Big community shout out."
He said that a local first responder and a passing medical student gave first aid to a man who had minor injuries. The man was taken to hospital by family members.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 8.40pm to a two-vehicle road traffic collision at Wakeham on Portland. It involved a grey Citroen registered to County Durham and a red Golf registered to Southampton. The ambulance was called but family are assisting taking the injured person to hospital. Vehicle recovery is currently underway but the road remains closed for the time being."
