AN ANNUAL charity extravaganza returned to the streets of Weymouth for the first time since 2019.

Weymouth & Portland Lions roared back after last year's absence due to the coronavirus pandemic with their live music street busk.

The Lions entertained the Weymouth crowds with a wide variety of live music events, including Replay, Julie Storey’s ‘Let’s Dance’, Abbi Brewster, Anniemac & Norman, Tony Lowe, Ed Hintze, Wyke Ukedelics, Brian Lincoln, solo guitarist, Ken Watkins and, for the first time supporting the Lions fundraiser, were the Dark Descendants, a talented group of young musicians from All Saints.

Club president Kevin Brookes said the event raised over £600 for people in need.

"These people include disabled people so they can purchase new wheelchairs, or it could be people in temporary accommodation who may need new carpets.

"During lockdown we've been supporting foodbanks around areas including Weymouth, Littlemoor and Chickerell.

"So it's important we hold these events so we can keep supporting those less fortunate."
