Whilst out and about recently I have been very impressed with the sculpture I have seen on some other towns' roundabouts.

Most of the sculptures, in different mediums, are representative of that town and its people in some way, and feature something they are proud of.

At Shepton Mallet there is a small flock of fat, attractive looking stone sheep.

At Gillingham, a white hart and a red deer made entirely from chicken wire.

Further afield, the Jurassic Stones greet us at the gateway to Weymouth and Portland.

In Bridport, we are fortunate indeed to have our own extremely talented sculptors living and working here and creating all the fabulous and thought provoking works along the walk.

Wouldn’t it be nice if they could be commissioned to create an inspirational work to represent the town and things we are all most proud of.

It could take pride of place on our roundabout so that it will be the first thing visitors see as they enter this wonderful town.
