A MAN caught continually being intoxicated in public, shouting and swearing has been warned he could be arrested.

A Weymouth man has been issued a Community Protection Notice, which are designed to stop people from behaving in an anti-social manner, after he was caught continually being heavily intoxicated in public, shouting, swearing and congregating in large groups.

If the man does not stick to the rules laid out in the notice, he will be arrested.

A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Officers from Weymouth Neighbourhood Policing have issued a local male with a Community Protection Notice following him continually acting in a disorderly manner. This includes, being heavily intoxicated in public, shouting, swearing and congregating in large disorderly groups.

"A Community Protection Notice is a formal notice issued by Dorset Police and Dorset Council under Section 43 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.

"Specific conditions are applied to the notice to address the individual’s behaviour. If the individual fails to comply with the conditions they will be arrested.

"Dorset Police work closely with Dorset Council and partners in a multi-agency approach to tackling street based Anti-Social Behaviour, known as Operation Luscombe."
