WEYMOUTH Lifeboat Week is cancelled for the second year in a row.
Weymouth RNLI Lifeboat Station will not be having its annual lifeboat week - the RNLI's biggest annual fundraiser - for the second consecutive year, a decision made by organisers before lockdown restrictions were eased for fear that the event would have to be cancelled if plans to lift rules were delayed.
Despite this, RNLI volunteers will be out in force fundraising for the Weymouth Lifeboat Station from August 1 to August 7.
A stall will be set up outside of HSBC on St Mary Street on August 3 and August 4 where volunteers will be giving out safety leaflets and sea safety advice as well as collecting money.
On August 6, a bric-a-brac stall will be set up on the Esplanade from 10am until 5pm where volunteers will sell some goodies to raise money for the RNLI.
A spokesman for Weymouth RNLI said: "While Weymouth RNLI Lifeboat Station will not be having a Lifeboat Week this year, some of the station volunteers will still be out and about around the town raising awareness of the RNLI and fundraising by shaking a bucket.
"No cash? Don't worry, they will be armed with a card machine to enable you to donate to the charity that exists to save lives at sea."
