How I agree with Dave Burchill (Have Your Say, Echo 26 July) on the Park & Ride.

READ MORE: 520 parking fines but the Park & Ride is empty - get your act together Dorset Council!

Today at just past 12 noon there were 41 vehicles parked in the public parking areas in addition to almost as many “travellers” spread out on grassed areas.

What a farce. What a travesty.

And with totally inadequate signage on approaching main roads to advise visitors of this out-of-town-centre facility.

Those who do manage to find out about it are then confronted with the problem of “what do we do now?” They may pick up on insignificant signs that inform of a bus service, somewhere; while those who are good problem solvers might just find the little bus shelter around the corner about a quarter-of-a-mile away.

On a wet day, spirits will be dampened as they wait patiently for a service bus (route 2) to arrive, hopefully with room among locals who often fill the majority of seats. Heaven forbid when it’s time to catch a bus back from the town centre!

It’s a disgrace and brings nothing but sharp criticism from those who have chosen what should be a sensible way of avoiding driving in and out of the town centre.

Shame on those who, seemingly, couldn’t care less about pleasing and impressing our visitors.

With no idea how to encourage repeat visits.

Which reminds me, are those with power at all interested in pushing for a Tourist Information Centre on Weymouth seafront - linking with the admirable initiative being introduced by First Group buses?

What do you think of Weymouth's Park and Ride? It's dire!! The bus stop is too far from the car park for my elderly mother to walk to. Buses are infrequent and generally very busy on board. Park and Ride should be an asset to Weymouth (as it uses to be) but I avoid at all costs now when I visit.

What do you think of Weymouth's Park and Ride?Poorly advertised. No bus service into town. Unable to find out if car can be left overnight or any length of time.

What do you think of Weymouth's Park and Ride?Useless as there is no bus directly from there and as has been said the number 2 bus is often full. Come on Weymouth, use the fab facility to your advantage. I now use the bus from Poundbury as I don’t have to bother driving and I’m guaranteed a seat both ways. Cost wise there is no comparison.
