Camp Bestival is set to take place this weekend at Lulworth Castle, Dorset and despite problems within the hospitality sector regarding self-isolation the event has “robust plan” to avoid disruption.

Much of the hospitality industry has been hit with the ‘pingdemic’ as staff are asked to isolate themselves by the NHS Test and Trace system, resulting in workforce shortages.

However, even though other festivals have been reported as fearing cancellation due to similar issues, Camp Bestival have told the Echo they have a plan in place to avoid any major problems.

A spokesperson for the event said: “Camp Bestival’s event team has been working with Public Health and local authorities for the past year and have a robust plan in place that will help to avoid any serious disruption to the running of the festival this weekend.

“Full details of Camp Bestival’s Covid-19 entry requirements and the applicable refund policy can be found at www.campbestival.net.”

The festival is taking place for the first time since 2018 and is set to feature a whole variety of entertainment from live music performances, comedy, theatre and shows along with authors and talks.

Fatboy Slim, Becky Hill and Groove Armada headline the music stages across the four day event commencing Thursday July 29.

National data has shown that in the most recent week there are statistics for a record 618,903 alerts were sent out between July 8-15 advising people to self-isolate.

As a result this has hit many industries hard, including hospitality, with staff shortages.

The impact of which saw one Bournemouth restaurant recently cancel 100 bookings due to staff members isolating.

Camp Bestival’s website details some of the conditions which make up their “robust plan” in a bid to ensure no major disruption impacts the event.
