DORCHESTER Town boss Robbie Herrera has urged the Magpies to “put on a performance we can be proud of” against arch-rivals Weymouth tomorrow (3pm).

Herrera’s men go into their final pre-season friendly of the summer with three wins and a loss.

The one blemish was a 3-0 defeat to National League South side Hungerford Town on Tuesday.

However, the Ridgeway derby represents Dorchester’s toughest examination of the summer, with the Terras playing two divisions above in the National League.

Dorchester displayed arguably their best football of pre-season against Hungerford.

Asked what he wanted to obtain from the contest, Herrera said: “Again, another 90 minutes for the lads who are looking to be in the starting XI come August 14th.

“I’m looking for much of the same, they way we passed the ball, created chances, getting round the back of teams, getting balls in the box and good build-up play.

“Hopefully, more on the defensive side of things where we were a little bit tighter, and not so loose with our passing and playing out.

“Hopefully we’ll put on a performance we can be proud of.”

Former Crystal Palace midfielder Tom Soares played just 21 minutes against Hungerford with a calf issue.

Herrera added: “Tom’s an influence on the rest of the team, he’s got that little bit of quality and know how.

“Unfortunately, he got a bit of a dead calf so we got him off straight away.

“We carried on in the same fashion as when he was on the pitch, we coped quite well without him at the time.

“The lads who stepped up did quite a good job, so we’ve got to assess what he’s like for the weekend. If not, we’ll have to think of a game plan.”
