A PATIENT has died of coronavirus at Dorset County Hospital for the first time in four months.

Figures released by the NHS reported on Tuesday, July 27, a patient has died from coronavirus while under the care of Dorset County Hospital (DCH) in Dorchester.

Figures now show that 112 people have died of coronavirus at DCH since the start of the pandemic.

The figures show the last recorded Covid-19 related death at DCH - prior to the update - was on March 31.

The most recent coronavirus death at DCH, the most recent Covid-19 hospital deaths in the county were all recorded at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) on July 26, July 25, July 24, July 22, while two patients died on July 17.

Figures now show that 743 people have died of coronavirus in UHD since the start of the pandemic.

Dorset Healthcare, the trust responsible for community hospitals and mental health care, has recorded 73 Covid-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic, with the last recorded Covid-19 death at Dorset Healthcare Universities Trust was recorded on March 14.

UHD incorporates the former Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Trust, as well as Poole Hospital.
