A NEW celebrity podcast is set to launch from Weymouth - and a special meet and greet will be taking place to promote its debut.

The new Cockney and Scouse Podcast is promoting a new TV drama which is currently in production and will be hosted by star of the show and former Love Island contestant Tyne-Lexy Clarson who will be joined every week by fellow actors David Easter and Stuart Antony, as well as special guests.

Tyne-Lexy will be doing a meet and greet upstairs in the Tropical Turtle on August 21 to promote the podcast's launch where members of the public will have the opportunity to meet and take a picture with the stars of the show.

The Cockney and Scouse TV series revolves around two former special forces veterans who are summoned out of retirement by 'The World Order' to take on missions.

The director, crew and actors have all worked on popular shows including Coronation Street, EastEnders, Hollyoaks, The Bar, The Bill and Silent Witness.

The show, Cockney and Scouse was written and created by David Easter, of Hollyoaks fame, who also plays one of the main characters.

The actor, who played Mac Nightingale in the Channel 4 soap, spoke bravely to the Dorset Echo on his mental health struggles and said that he spent much of lockdown in a rehabilitation home, which treats patients for substance abuse and alcoholism.

Mr Easter started writing the series when he was in recovery and said some of the elements of the TV show were inspired by his own life.

He said: "Once I started my recovery, sorted out where my head was and went through counselling and detoxification - I just found that I couldn't stop writing.

"At the moment we can't release the details of the broadcaster but it will be a major streaming service and it will be completed in 2022."

The weekly podcast will also be filmed and the producers are inviting members of the public to go visit and see them in action at 11am on August 21 whilst they record their very first episode from onboard a boat in Weymouth Harbour.

The podcast is set to record from a number of popular Weymouth venues in the first few weeks it airs including The Closet and the Tropical Turtle, both in Maiden Street.

Mr Easter added: "We really want people from Weymouth to embrace it."

The podcast - produced by Dynamite Productions and sponsored by Jackson's Fish and Chips on Frederick Place and Elite Tattoos - wants to get local people involved in the show as much as possible whilst supporting local businesses and will be hosting a number of competitions which will offer prizes such as free meals at independent restaurants in Weymouth.
