A DIABETIC man who had low blood sugar while out at sea was helped by coastguard officers.

At 1.54pm on Saturday afternoon, coastguard officers were called to reports of a diabetic man with low blood sugar in Weymouth.

A spokesman for Wyke Coastguard said: "The team was tasked to check on the welfare of a possible diabetic male on the waiting pontoon having self-tested for low blood sugar levels whilst at sea.

"Team members tied the casualty's boat alongside and met with RNLI lifeguards from Weymouth and west Dorset who offered assistance.

"The gentleman was declared well, bought himself some chocolate and waited for the 4pm bridge lift."
