At the weekend, Luxe Rally met up at Cornhill to start their rally event.

I was there as a spectator, and thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the performance cars there, from Lamborghinis to GTRs.

From my point of view, there was an influx of people at the top of the town, compared to the usual Saturday. And there were ranges of ages as well, from young children, to teenagers, to adults.

My question is, why can’t we have more motor events? These would be organised, so we don’t have people doing dangerous things like what happened in Weymouth a few weeks ago.

Everyone there seemed to enjoy it, and this doesn’t happen very often. An example of what I would suggest is at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu.

They hold events such as “Simply Audi” or “Simply Aston Martin.”

Even more local examples are Lotus being on the Weymouth seafront by the Jubilee Clock a few weeks ago, or Porsche doing the same a few years ago.

If we had more events like this, then it would bring more people to the town, whether it’s from Dorchester, or outside of Dorchester. Plus, people walking past are more likely to stop, helping businesses on the street.
