A key Dorset route was closed after a high voltage electricity pole was on fire.
The A356 was closed for two hours as firefighters and police officers attended the scene outside Maiden Newton after 8pm yesterday (Sunday, August 1).
Electricity engineers also attended so they could isolate the supply to the electricity pole before the blaze could be extinguished. The A356 was reopened in both directions after 11pm.
A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews from Maiden Newton Fire Station and Dorchester Fire Station were called to make the scene safe before engineers arrived.

She said: "We were called at 8.06pm on Sunday night for a fire involving a high voltage electricity pylon.
"Two crews attended, from Maiden Newton and Dorchester, and they ensured that the surrounding area was kept safe until electricity engineers were able to isolate the supply.
"The road was reopened shortly after 11pm."
