A ROAD closure for both ways on a busy route between Weymouth and Dorchester has been lifted after police dealt with two separate crashes this morning.

Heavy queues of traffic were building on the A354 Relief Road after police closed the road due to dealing with two separate incidents - one of which was between three vehicles, and the other between a vehicle and motorcyclist.

At around 10.40am, Dorset Council said queues of traffic were building both ways between Dorchester Road in Upwey and the A35, next to the Football Ground Roundabout in Dorchester.

A spokesman from Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 10.11am on Monday August 2 of a three-vehicle minor collision on the A354 at Monkton Hill near Dorchester.

"It was subsequently reported that a further collision had occurred involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.

"Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and the motorcyclist was treated for injuries that were not believed to be serious.

"Road closures were put in place as the emergency services dealt with the incident and were lifted shortly after 11am."
