A MAN who was arrested in connection with an alleged armed robbery will face no further police action, as a police investigation continues.

At 1.36pm on June 30 it was reported that a man, who was in possession of a handgun, entered the Co-op in Beaufoy Close, Shaftesbury, demanded money from a shop worker and then left with a quantity of cash.

Following initial enquiries, a man was arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation. He has now been released from the investigation and will face no further police action.

Detective Constable Dave Barnes, of Weymouth CID, said: “Our investigation into this incident is still very much ongoing and we are continuing to explore a number of lines of enquiry to identify the man responsible.

“I would again urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that might assist our investigation, to please come forward if you have not already spoken to police.”
