THE Tank Museum has hosted its first wedding after one couple said their vows in front of a World War Two tank.

Rachel and Daniel Titely, from Yeovil, wanted to tie the know somewhere their son Adam would enjoy and even let him pick his favourite tank to say “I do” at when they got married in May.

Mrs Titley said: “When we heard couples could get married at the Tank Museum, knowing how much Adam loves it there, made the choice simple for us.

“The team was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for more. Being able to include our son in the decision-making process and allowing him to plan everything was hugely important and he made us proud.”

The Tank Museum, in Bovington, only announced in January it would be holding wedding options and the attraction already has bookings for the next two years.

Under current guidelines the venue can host small gatherings as well as parties with up to 70 guests in attendance.

Events manager Rosanna Dean said: “Looking ahead, we’ve already started taking bookings for next year, that we hope aren’t restricted by Covid-19 regulations and can cater for upwards of 1000 guests.

“If that wasn’t enough, all profits from your wedding will go to support the Tank Museum charity.

“So, not only will you have started a new life together, your special day will have helped to preserve history for generations to come.”

With the current situation on restrictions ever-changing Ms.Dean said the museum is continuing to work with flexibility to ensure couples are at peace of mind ahead of planning the big day, following years of enquiries.

She added: “We’ve had a number of requests for weddings over the years and we’re pleased to finally be able to offer people the chance to get married at The Tank Museum.”

Weddings at the museum are only the latest addition to venue hire offerings at the site, alongside meetings, conferences and large scale special events all overseen by an expert events team.
