DORSET motorcycling ace Brad Jones is now breathing with little assistance as he continues his recovery from a serious British Superbikes crash.

Jones, 23, crashed at high speed on the exit of Brands Hatch's famous Clark Curve on Saturday, July 24.

The Stalbridge man suffered a 'highside' crash and was airlifted to King's College Hospital after hitting a barrier, rending him unconscious.

He was placed in an induced coma but following an operation to stabilise a fractured pelvis, Jones' head injury remains of concern to doctors.

Jones has suffered a small bleed on the brain, broken ribs and punctured both lungs, according to the Blackmore Vale magazine.

However, the iForce Lloyd & Jones BMW star is now having his sedation gradually reduced.

A statement from MotorSport Vision Racing read: "Brad remains under the care of the medical team at King’s College Hospital, London where he is having ongoing neurological assessment.

"He has been extubated and is breathing with some help but doing most of it himself. Sedation is being slowly reduced.

"Further updates will be provided when possible."

World Superbikes star Scott Redding - a close friend of Jones - dedicated his victory in this weekend's Czech Republic GP to the Dorset man.

Tommy Bridewell, Jones' fellow British Superbike rider, is also giving away a signed set of leathers in an online raffle in a separate fundraiser.

The main fundraiser for Jones and his family has raised almost £30,000.
