Firefighters tackle bin fire at The Nothe, Weymouth Picture: Weymouth Fire Station
A CARELESSLY discarded barbecue caused a fire at the Nothe Gardens in Weymouth this afternoon.
The 'reckless' actions of those responsible have been condemned by the fire service after a crew from Weymouth Fire Station tackled the fire in a bin at the park.
"This was started by a disposable barbecue," said a spokesman for the brigade.
"If you look at the sign that was close to the bin, how reckless can you be? We are currently in the dry season where vegetation is tinder dry and easily combustible. Please adhere to local warnings about barbecues and enjoy the area."
