The cash has breathed a new lease of life into The Russell Hotel's underground function suite - which has been fitted with a new carpet, new furniture and an upgrade to the bar.
Aislinn Peters, the hotel's general manager, said: "During lockdown we've seen a new carpet installed and new furniture for our ballroom suite.
"The bar itself has been given a complete upgrade too.
"Prior to the pandemic, the cash was used to upgrade the reception area and the installation of a new coffee shop opposite the hotel's main entrance.
"The money injection has been great because it's all about having guests back in an environment which is modern.
"Admittedly, it's been lonely in the hotel during the pandemic, but it's fantastic to see a coach full of guests again."
Daish's Holidays, a Bournemouth-based firm, bought The Russell Hotel since 2015.
The company's second Weymouth hotel, the Prince Regent, has also benefitted from the cash with upgrades to the reception area, restaurant suites, its bar - and a number of bedrooms have had walk-in showers installed to aid older guests.
Lee Martin, general manager of the Prince Regent, said: "In total, 24 rooms and eight bathrooms have been refurbished.
"Our two restaurants, with great views of the seafront, as well as our bar and lounge area have also been upgraded.
"The lighting within these rooms are better. It's a much more inviting, relaxing and modern environment to be in, but at the same time I'm confident we've kept an early 19th century vibe, which is when the hotel was built."
As part of the £1million refurb, the Sands Hotel, in Bournemouth has also undergone a refurbishment - with a number of bedrooms and en suite bathrooms modernised 'to give a new, contemporary look'.
Paul Harper, commercial director of Daish’s Holidays, said: “We used our enforced closures over the past year to carry out an extensive refurbishment programme which would prepare our hotels for the current staycation boom.
"Daish’s would never usually have the opportunity to carry out a refurbishment of this scale while our hotels were fully operational, so we proactively used this downtime to carefully plan and roll out these works.
"We are so proud of the final results and look forward to receiving feedback from our loyal guests and new faces this summer."
