A BEACH hut at the exclusive Mudeford Sandbank has gone on the market for £350k – but what else could you buy in Dorset for the same price?

The new hut was built in April 2021 and occupies a beachside location near Hengistbury Head.

It can house up to six people and has a lounge area and kitchen, with electricity powered by solar panels.

The hut doesn’t have a bathroom so residents will have access to a public WC and owners private shower facilities.

For the same price as this beach hut, you could buy a five-bed detached house in Weymouth with a south-facing garden, conservatory, bathroom, en-suite, cloakroom, kitchen-diner, utility room and a garage/driveway.

There are also a number of commercial properties on sale in the area for the same price.

They include a former Royal Bank of Scotland building, on the market for £300K, which comes with plans for four flats and two houses, a basement with vaults and extra security features.

Similarly, for £350k you could buy two flats in Dorchester and Bournemouth, each with a hallway, sitting room, kitchen, bedrooms, a bathroom and communal gardens.

These apartments also benefit from resident and visitor parking.
There are about 360 beach huts at Mudeford, all of which are privately owned.

Cars are banned from the spit, meaning visitors can only reach it by land train, ferry or on foot.

The high prices can largely be attributed to the exclusivity and small number of huts, along with the unencumbered beach views.

The demand for them has never been greater due to people being put off travelling abroad while the coronavirus pandemic is ongoing.

Hence the costly price tag and the long list of people looking to buy them, even for £350k.
