FARM buildings near Gillingham could be converted into five homes – if Dorset Council planners agree.

An application to see if the changes are likely to be allowed comes from Fitz Farm at Gillingham Road, Silton.

Agents for the farm are hoping the application can be agreed using a planning law, known as Class Q, which allows for the conversion of some farm buildings without the need to go through the full planning process.

A structural report claims that although the three buildings are not defect free they are capable of conversion for residential use subject to minor repairs and internal changes.

The full details of the application can be seen on the planning section of the Dorset Council website, ref 2021/02994, where comments can also be made, or in writing, by September 7th.
