WEYMOUTH residents are wondering whether street artist Banksy has paid a visit to the town as new graffiti art has been spotted.
The stencil art is of a similar style to Bristol artist. One of the works at The Esplanade depicts a small boy crawling next to a sandcastle on Weymouth Beach.
Others in a similar style have also appeared... this one below captured by our reporter this morning.
Another work painted on the side of a building appears to spread a message of hope. According to a resident, there was initially a face mask hanging from the dove's beak.
It was spotted by Weymouth photographer Nicki Fitz-Gerald, who said: "I don’t know whether they are Banksy or not…a style easy to copy but these are very skillfully done, and quickly too, to get in and out with all three and not be spotted.
"I hope they are!"
Mrs Fitz-Gerald, who runs iPhone photography courses in the town, said she had spoken to a painter on The Esplanade whose nice cream walls 'Banksy' had painted over, and that he did not mind.
She added: "The painter said that this one originally had a mask hanging from the dove’s beak.
"If you look closely, you can see a mark (in two places) where the mask must have been ripped off the wall."
