Back in 1986 Royal Marine divers were forced to mount a rescue bid with a difference after a bus ended up in the sea at Studland.

The 6.45pm Swanage to Bournemouth service ran into problems when it reached the Sandbanks ferry.

With only the driver on board the bus tried to drive on, but, because of a build-up of sand, it became stuck all night.

It was kept in place by the ferry to prevent it becoming a danger to shipping.

The £55,000 bus was stuck all night and towed out the next day.
