'Bird was a sparrowhawk - not a peregrine falcon'
Regarding the photo by Tony Marshall in Dorset Magic (Thursday 2/9/21) Pictured above).
I’m afraid it is not a Peregrine Falcon as stated but is in fact a female Sparrowhawk which is a common visitor to our gardens in search of birds up to the size of pigeons.
Bird feeding stations are a favourite place for them to hunt.
