WEYMOUTH boss Brian Stock sung the praises of defender Josh Leslie-Smith after his first goal for the Terras.

Leslie-Smith struck a superb finish into the far corner in the eighth minute, setting the Terras on their way to a 4-3 win at Solihull Moors on Saturday.

His performance backed up a prominent role in the Terras’ 3-1 win over Maidenhead United five days earlier, during which he provided an assist for skipper Josh McQuoid.

Leslie-Smith’s good form comes after a debut season hampered by concussion, injury and Covid-19.

Stock told Echosport: “I’m pleased for him because he listens. He’s got a fantastic attitude and what a great engine he has.

“He’s come in and really hit the ground running. You look at the attributes that he has, he’s good in the air, gets forward and I didn’t realise this – he can finish as well!

“He’s almost become the complete player I never knew I had. I’m delighted for him.

“He’s had to bide his time.

“He got concussion at the back end of last year and finished the season on a downer. He’s had to pick himself up.

“He’s always in the gym, always trying to make himself better and that really does show when you’re called upon and can come into the team and do a good job like he has done.”

Weymouth, who sit 12th after four games, return to league action at home to non-League giants Notts County on Saturday (3pm).

Elsewhere, Weymouth Under-23s travel to Dorchester under-23s for a Ridgeway derby in the Hampshire Combination and Development League tomorrow (7.45pm).
