A number of roadworks will be taking place across west Dorset throughout the month as workers continue to keep the county’s roads in a good condition.

Roadworks will be carried out throughout September as maintenance crews improve services in the area or fix roads.

  • Watford Lane in Pymore will be closed between Tuesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 30 whilst poles and equipment are replaced. The road will be closed from its junction with Pymore Lane and Watford Lane to the Pymore Inn. A 4.5 mile diversion route will be in place, taking drivers through Bridport town centre.
  • A section of Bennetts Hill will be closed for two days between it junctions at Shipton Lane and Milvers Lane. The closure will be in place on Monday, September 20 and Tuesday, September 21 between 9.30am and 3.30pm on each day. The road is closure so works can be carried out by Openreach to access underground and overhead cables to provide a customer connection. A mile-and-a-half diversion route will be in place and signposted at the time.
  • Works will be carried out on White Sheet Hill in Beaminster on Monday, September 13 with the road being closed for the day between the entrance of Westleaze Farm and the entrance of Higher Northfield Farm. A diversion route of 4.9 miles will be in place whilst Openreach carries out works on decaying telegraph poles along the highway.
  • Kingcombe Road in Toller Porcorum will remain closed from its junction with Popes Hill until Friday, September 17 to allow Wessex Water to carry out water mains resilience works. There is currently an eight mile diversion route in place.
  • Several Lyme Regis roads are currently closed as Western Power Distribution carry out a large overhead line refurbishment project. Colway Lane is currently closed between its junctions with Pine Ridge and North Avenue, Roman Road is closed from its junction at South Avenue to its junction at Haye Lane, and Haye Lane between its junctions with Roman Road and the B3165 Lyme Road. The roads will remain closed until Monday, November 1. There are currently diversion routes in place, which will remain until works are completed.
  • Pilsdon Lane will be closed from Wednesday, September 29 until Friday, October 8 as sections of the road are repaired. A 4.1 diversion route will be in place for the duration of the works.
  • A 2.4 mile diversion route will be in place between as works are carried out along Gore Lane in Lyme Regis Monday, September 13 and Friday, September 17.
  • A 5.7 diversion route will be in place as works are carried out on Elsdon's Lane between Monday, September 13 and Wednesday, September 15. The road will be closed up until its junction with the A35, so that new ducting can be laid.
  • A section of Spyway Road in Askerswell from 9.30am until 8pm on Monday, September 20 and Tuesday, September 21. The road will be closed so that Wessex Water can carry out works on a sewer pipe to prevent collapse, and then will be a mile-long diversion route in place.
  • A section of Fudge Hill will be closed from Wednesday, September 8 until Friday, September 10 so that Wessex Water can reinstate a failing patch in the road. A 2.6 diversion route will be in place as these works are carried out.
