PEOPLE are being invited to enjoy a free cream tea – as part of celebrations to launch this year’s Weymouth Christmas Angels project.
The event will take place at St Aldhelm’s Church Centre, in Spa Road, from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, September 19.
It will mark the official launch of the Christmas project, which sees creative volunteers knit, tag and bag craft angels to be hidden around the town.
Each year, around 100 willing people create an army of knitted angels. They each have an individual tag with a link to a Facebook page where people can log on to tell the community about their find.
The cream tea event will mark the official start of this year’s project.
A spokeswoman for the event said: “Many of you will have knitted Angels or tagged and bagged them for hiding in and around Weymouth.
“As a thank you, we would love to spoil you with this free afternoon!
“Those of you who haven’t heard of Weymouth Christmas Angels, or been involved, but would just like to join us for a sociable afternoon, after so many restrictions, you are very welcome. Don’t worry if you have no interest in knitting!”
Please let organisers you will be attending or if you have any dietary requirements on 07902 217942 or by emailing keepintouch.weymouth@gmail.com
