DORCHESTER Town boss Robbie Herrera has challenged the Magpies to retain their “winning mentality” for the visit of Weston-super-Mare to the Avenue Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

Weston have been something of a bogey team for Dorchester since their relegation from the National League South in 2018/19.

The Seagulls have won all three of the games contested between the sides since then, but Dorchester come into the latest contest fresh off the back of victory.

Herrera’s men beat Walton Casuals 2-0 on Saturday courtesy of new striker Kieran Phillips’ brace and the ex-Fulham left-back has urged his players to continue their upward trend.

Speaking to Dorchester’s official website, he said: “That’s the thing, we did it before at Hendon, a fantastic result and then a little bit after the Lord Mayor’s show.

“We need to keep that winning mentality. I’ve said to the boys it’s a lovely feeling to pick up three points on a Saturday or Tuesday.

"It’s a great feeling to have. We want to continue that and keep ourselves climbing up the table.”

On Weston, Herrera added: “They’re always a tough opposition. They’ve got some good, good players.

“It depends on how we prepare and what we’re like on the day. If it’s a good day for us, there’s no reason why we can’t take three points.

“But if we’re off it, Weston have got players that can hurt you.”

Herrera also issued an update on his pursuit of another new attacking player.

He said: “Hopefully we’ll be talking to somebody the early part of (this) week.

“All things being well, we might be having another attacking player in the ranks.”

Sam Davidson (ankle) and ex-Seagulls defender Charlie Madden (hamstring) are doubts.

Davidson came off just eight minutes into the Magpies win over Walton.

Herrera said: “He’s rolled his ankle and tried to continue but was struggling. We needed to get him off and we’ll assess him.

“Looking at it, I’m not sure. It will be touch and go.”
