IN regards to the Dorset Echo’s cover story on Monday, September 13, regarding the council’s seafront master plan, maybe the council could consider working on the King Street junction with the seafront.

People need more encouragement to use the pedestrian subway.

Maybe install railings or a pedestrian crossing. If it’s good enough for the harbour why not King Street?

Single black posts with small signs reading ‘use subway’ aren’t good enough.

The number of close calls I’ve had this summer alone with people taking the risk of dashing across the road at the top of King Street instead of using the subway is ridiculous.

If the council wants to improve the seafront area maybe allocate some funds to improving the safety of pedestrians and road users alike.

I’m certain it will not be long before someone is seriously injured or killed at that junction!
