DORCHESTER Sports’ boss Ashley James faces a battle to turn out a side for the trip to Sturminster Newton United tomorrow (3pm).

Sports are currently fourth in the Jewson Dorset Premier League table, two points off leaders Hamworthy Rec after seven games.

However, with only 17 players signed on, Sports have seven players out with injury or unavailability.

James has been busy this week signing players on, with defender Louis Hankin from Portland United one player to get the call.

Sports face a much-improved Sturminster Newton side, who have benefitted from Gillingham’s promotion to the Western League Division One by recruiting several new players.

James told Echosport: “It’s another team that are unbeaten. We did it to Blandford on Saturday so we’ll be looking to do it to Sturminster (tomorrow).

“It’s a massive game for us. We have to go there, try and pick up all three points and keep the good run going.

“They’ve got five or six Gillingham players from last year. Obviously, Gillingham were a top side so it’s no shock that they’re up there doing well.

“It’s another tough game away from home so if we keep picking these points up on the road it will put us in good stead for after the new year when we get a lot of home games coming.”

Shaun Bessant (suspended), Carl Hopkins, Alex Gould, Owen Peart and Matt Peart (all unavailable), Ash Smith and Jamie Quinton (both calf) are all out but Brandon Heal is fit again.
