THOUSANDS of people are being urged to check their route to Tankfest at The Tank Museum this weekend.

A number of road closures and diversions will be in place as both the Tankfest and Ironman festivals take place at the same time.

Tankfest runs from September 17 to 20, at the Tank Museum in Bovington and is set to attract around 15,000 people across the four days.

The Ironman bike course will coincide with the Sunday event on September 19, in Weymouth.

Roz Skellorn, marketing communications manager at The Tank Museum, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming our visitors back to another successful Tankfest event, with around 15,000 people expected across the four days.

"Due to the road closures, we are encouraging people to check their route before they leave and to make sure they allow plenty of time to complete their journey. Details of these closures can be found on our website tankfest.com."

Tankfest claims to be the best display of historic moving armour in the world.

The four-day event will include guest vehicles, living history encampments and demonstrations and trade stands with a new World War Two exhibition for 2021.
